California Social Work Archives Luncheon
The California Social Welfare Archives (CSWA), an organization dedicated to preserving the history of social work and social welfare in California, hosts an annual luncheon to honor social work leaders for their career accomplishments and commitment to the advancement of social welfare. The George D. Nickel Award for Outstanding Professional Services and the George D. Nickel Award for Outstanding Volunteer Services are given in memory of CSWA's founder to recognize individuals who have made notable strides toward improving social welfare.
Sarnat Endowed Lecture
The Sarnat Endowed Lectureship was created in 1986 by Rhoda G. and Dr. Bernard G. Sarnat to expand and broaden the frontiers of social work knowledge through the presentations of nationally known, interdisciplinary presenters. Rhoda Sarnat was director of field education at the USC School of Social Work from 1975 to 1981. The Sarnats are benefactors of the school and are keenly concerned with the issues affecting the social work community.
