IT/Technical Support Request

Use this page to request IT/Technical Support from the School of Social Work IT staff.

A large number of computer problems are solved by simply turning off the computer, waiting a minute or two, and then turning it back on. If you are having a technical problem you may want to try "power cycling" your computer before you submit a problem report.

Check all the items below that you think apply to your problem. Please give as much information as you can in the explanation area at the bottom of the form.
My computer won't connect to the internet - my web browser (Internet Explorer - how you look at www.usc.edu/socialwork, for example) won't open a web page - I'm submitting this trouble report from someone else's computer!
I can't print - I print a document, but nothing is coming out of my printer, or the computer keeps opening up a dialog box asking me to give a name for saving the document - but I'm trying to print!
I want to print on the shared high-speed laser in the building but I don't have the printer showing up on my computer. (In SWC, this is the Laser Printer next to the copier. In MRF, this is the Laser Printer in the third floor Faculty Lounge.)
My printer is out of ink/toner - PLEASE INDICATE WHAT KIND OF PRINTER YOU ARE USING in the explanations area below
I would like some software installed - PLEASE TELL US WHAT SOFTWARE YOU NEED in the explanations area below
I would like help setting up filters in my email to deal with the spam that the ISD spam filter is catching - I don't want to see it show up in my Inbox, I want to have it go to a different folder or even go direct to the email trash!
I think I opened an attachment in an email message that may have infected my computer with a virus. I need help making sure I don't have a virus, or cleaning the virus out of my computer. I feel really bad about this because the IT staff has told us many times to NOT open attachments from people we don't know, but it was just too tempting. I'll make it up to the IT staff by bringing them chocolate, and I promise I won't do it again.
I'm having an email problem - PLEASE INDICATE BELOW WHICH EMAIL PROGRAM YOU ARE USING and describe the problem in the explanation area.
  I use SunOne Messenger/iPlanet
  I use Eudora
  I use Outlook Express
I use the full Outlook Client
I use a mail program not mentioned here - I'll tell you what it is in the explanation space below.
I have a problem that isn't listed above. PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR PROBLEM AS COMPLETELY AS YOU CAN in the explanation space below
I don't really have a problem, but I have a request. PLEASE GIVE AS MUCH DETAIL AS YOU CAN in the explanation space below.
Explanation - please give us as much detail about your problem or request as you can.
