Civil rights attorney Connie Rice shared her personal experience with gender violence at this year's All School Day, an annual event held to raise awareness about diversity and matters of human conflict. She emphasized the need to understand the image of masculinity and why it is so fragile. The USC School of Social Work has acquired three academic journals, expanding its potential impact to shape the field and the research being published in these areas. The journals - Social Development Issues, Home Health Care Quarterly and Journal of Workplace Behavioral Health - are now housed at the school's Hamovitch Center for Science in the Human Services.

USC's social work students will now have the opportunity to study in Puerto Rico as part of the school's new global immersion program in the Caribbean. The summer course will examine how diversity shapes the human experience and is critical to the formation of identity. Students from the Orange County Academic Center rally on Pink
Friday in support of the state's teachers, many of whom
will lose their jobs due to budget cuts. As part of an advocacy
project for Scott Darrell's social policy class, students used
social marketing techniques to gather crowds and raise
awareness. They also used time-honored traditions of carrying
hand-painted signs and wearing symbolic pink T-shirts. |
