Weathering the Storm
The USC School of Social Work enrolled three Tulane University students affected by Hurricane Katrina, enabling them to earn credit at their home institution. One student, who describes having 20 minutes to pack three days' worth of clothes and grab her pets, is grateful. "My time at USC has helped me realize that kindness is the greatest gift in the face of tragedy; it helps the heart to heal and provides light in the darkness."

The USC Good Neighbors Campaign is a university-wide outreach effort
funded by employees to financially support education, health care
and public safety programs that advance the quality of life in the
neighborhoods surrounding the University Park and Health Sciences
campuses. In 10 years, the campaign has raised $6.3 million.
This year the School of Social Work reported 99% participation from faculty and staff, leading the way among all academic departments. In addition, 7 faculty members and 6 staff members donated 1% of their salaries to the cause. Nearly $18,000 has been pledged.
