Clinicians and patients often perceive depression as an expected reaction to cancer, so it frequently is under-treated, especially in low-income minority patients. Professor Michalle Mor Barak has won the 2007 George Terry Book Award from the Academy of Management, making her the first USC author to earn the prestigious honor. Visit to Korea   Fellows Learn About Heritage on Korea Trip
More than 40 Korean-American leaders visited South Korea as part of a professional leadership program offered through the Network of Korean-American Leaders fellowship program. Latinos’ preferred language may be more important than ethnicity in their use of mental health services. Associate Professor Concepcion Barrio participates in one of the first large-scale studies to compare Spanish-speaking and English-speaking Latinos with each other, as well as to the Caucasian population. Teens In Heels   Scholars Chronicle Human Rights Violations
Marc Williams was heartbroken to see teenage hookers throwing themselves at men in the red light district of Subic Bay. One was in high school, prostituting to support her family. A bar owner forced another to have sex with men. Williams was there to interview these victims of human trafficking and show them another way to go – all part of a social work course in the Philippines.
