| ERICK GUERRERO joined the USC School of Social Work faculty in 2009 as a post-doctoral fellow. His research focuses on human service organizations' responses to the health and social services needs of Latinos and other vulnerable populations. Particularly, he focuses on the implementation of culturally responsive and evidence-informed service models in health services. In his dissertation, Guerrero explored the adoption of culturally competent practices in the nation's outpatient substance abuse treatment organizations. In his research and teaching, he also explores the role of racial and ethnic diversity in organizational performance and workers' well being.
Guerrero has taught courses on organizations, management and policy implementation and he has consulted for national and international non-profit organizations on diversity management strategies. He is a licensed clinical therapist and for the past 13 years, he has provided bilingual-bicultural (Spanish) clinical services at different psychiatric and substance abuse treatment settings. During the past three years, Guerrero completed a pre-doctoral fellowship sponsored by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. He has also received numerous emerging scholar awards from other health and organizational research institutions, such as the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the Association on Research on Non-Profit Organizations and Volunteering Action (ARNOVA) and the European Research Institute on Cooperatives and Social Enterprise. He is currently a member of ARNOVA, the Society for Social Work Research and the Academy of Management. |
