NANCY ELLERS JAMES is a licensed clinical social worker whose primary interest is in the area of work/life issues.

In 1987, she co-founded and directed the first Employee Assistance Program at the University of California, San Diego where she practiced for 17 years serving faculty, staff and their immediate families. In 2004, Ellers James helped to establish and build UCSD's first Ombuds Program where she is currently the associate director and ombudsperson working with the faculty, staff and student populations.

Ellers James is a certified EAP professional and a member of both the International Ombudsman Association and National Association of Social Workers. She has received advanced training in substance abuse counseling, workplace coaching, mediating campus disputes, emotional intelligence and diversity, and the prevention of workplace violence.
