MARLENE WAGNER joined the USC School of Social Work in 1996. In a decade, she has increased the number of endowed professorships from one to eight; quadrupled annual gifts and helped bring in gifts totaling nearly $25 million.

During her previous two decades at the university, she has held numerous administrative posts including associate provost; assistant dean of the Graduate School and assistant director of the Office of Research and Program Coordination. She has been adjunct faculty in the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. Prior to coming to USC, she taught for 10 years in state university and community college systems and in private high schools.

Dr. Wagner has participated in many educational programs and conferences, including the USC Asia Conferences in Shanghai and Seoul, Korea; the Management Development Program, School of Graduate Education, Harvard University; and the Special Information and Language Program for University Administrators, German Academic Exchange Service, Bonn, West Germany. She received a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Fellowship at the University of Maryland to study the ethical use of human subjects in research. For more than two decades, Dr. Wagner served the research community at USC as chair of the University Park Institutional Review Board for the protection of human subjects in research.

She has been president of Phi Kappa Phi All-University Honor Society, USC Chapter, and has served on the boards of Phi Kappa Phi All-University Honor Society; the USC University Club (formerly USC Faculty Center) and USC Hillel.
