Drug Use, Social Context and HIV Risk in Homeless Youth

Project Summary:
Coming soon.

Project Description:
We are using an innovative, multi-method approach in a four year project to enhance knowledge of HIV/AIDs risk behaviors among emancipated youth in homeless shelters, drop-in centers, and street venues in Los Angeles County. Complementary quantitative and qualitative data is shedding light on the social context that surrounds youths' attitudes about sex as well as their substance use and sexual behaviors. A comprehensive understanding of the social context will facilitate effective, multi-faceted interventions to reduce risk among some of the most vulnerable individuals in the nation.
