The format of this conference is intended to maximize the beneficial exchange of experiences and ideas among the presenters, commentators, and the conference participants, leading to identification of key issues in the future of social work intervention research.
The presenters are asked to focus on not only the main findings of their specific intervention area but also:
- the importance and impact of the research results in the context of social work practice,
- lessons learned, and
- critical issues pertinent to the future of social work intervention research.
Each session will have a designated commentator who is asked to comment on a group of presentations in no more than 15 minutes. Then, turning to questions and comments from the audience, an important part of each session will be dedicated to a conversation between the presenters, commentators, and the audience.
Presenters are asked to limit their oral presentation to 15 minutes each in one of the plenary sessions. In preparation for the conference, presenters are asked to submit papers by October 1, 2009 so that the reading material can be forwarded to the conference participants prior to the conference.
Thus, the conference organizers hope that these perspectives will open up for a vivid professional conversation.
The proceedings of the conference will be published in a special issue of the International Journal of Social Welfare.
