DEDRA FULCHER is part of the adjunct faculty in field education. She currently serves as an external field instructor for first- and second-year interns who are interested in or are working in the area of military and veteran affairs.
She is credentialed as a licensed certified social worker, a registered nurse and a clinical nurse specialist in adult psychiatry. She got her start as an inpatient medical-surgical nurse for Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She then worked as a therapist and medical social worker for Kaiser Permanente Group and as a home health psychiatric nurse and inpatient hospital supervisor for the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. From 1999 to 2014, she worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District, first as a mental health consultant to administrators for 205 schools and later as a psychiatric social worker providing therapy to children and their families.
Fulcher is a former major of the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army and served as a medical-surgical nurse for more than two decades. She retired in 2011.
