JOHN GRAMUGLIA is an adjunct lecturer at the Virtual Academic Center. He currently serves as chief of mental health services at the Vermont Department of Corrections. He is also a consultant and trainer for the Addiction Technology Transfer Center at Brown University.

Gramuglia has spent more than 20 years working with juvenile and adult offenders in the private and public sectors, particularly in substance abuse and risk-reduction programs. He earned a Master in Business Administration in financial management from Iona College and a Master of Social Work in clinical practice from Fordham University.

He is a licensed independent clinical social worker, a licensed alcohol and drug counselor and a licensed clinical supervisor. He is a clinical member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers and has earned advanced certification in rational emotive behavioral therapy from the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City. He is past president of the Vermont chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
