SCOTT DARRELL is part of the social work adjunct faculty at USC. He draws upon his 25 years of experience as a leader in Southern California’s community development industry to teach courses in social policy, professional leadership, coaching, consultation and entrepreneurship. He serves as faculty lead of the online community immersion course.

He started his firm, Darrell Consultancy, to build the leadership capacity of individuals and groups who strive to make targeted systemic change on behalf of underserved populations. He offers professional coaching, training and organization development services, and his clients have included government agencies, nonprofit organizations and community groups. He trained mental health consumers and their family members to advocate for increased affordable housing opportunities as well as organized and trained low-income tenants, low-wage health care workers and social service professionals to become effective leaders.

Prior to opening his private practice, Darrell served as founding executive director of The Kennedy Commission, an affordable home advocacy and education organization. He also held leadership positions with three of California’s largest community development organizations.

Darrell is actively involved with community organizations that are working to end homelessness. He currently serves as a board member of Episcopal Community Services, Creative Housing and Services, and the Coachella Valley Housing Coalition. He is also chair of the NASW-CA Region F Desert Cities Unit.
