WANDA JEWELL began teaching at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work in 1998. She teaches academic courses in practice, behavior and social policy, as well as elective courses in substance abuse and systems of recovery in mental health treatment. Previously, she served as a field liaison and seminar instructor.

A licensed clinical social worker, Jewell has been in private psychotherapy practice in Los Angeles since 1991. She currently works as a family therapist and clinical supervisor for Glendale Adventist Alcohol and Drug Services.

She has worked as a psychiatric social worker at Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk, California, and as a clinical supervisor and family therapist at the Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse in Santa Fe Springs, California.

Jewell received her master’s degree in social work from USC and her doctorate in 2008 from the Sanville Institute in Berkeley, California. Her dissertation was a qualitative study of long-term sobriety in alcoholic women.
