Depending on area of interest, students select from one of the school’s three departments of study.
- Adults and Healthy Aging
- Children, Youth and Families
- Community, Organization, and Business Innovation
Within each department of study, you will complete one semester of foundation courses, followed by three semesters of courses focused on your chosen department’s specific issues. Courses emphasize real-world skills increasingly demanded by top employers and organizations, such as:
- Critical thinking and analysis
- Complex problem solving
- Data-informed decision-making
- Cross-discipline collaboration
- Workload management
Each department’s courses also incorporate evidence-based approaches, new neuroscience findings and implications, the latest in prevention and early intervention, as well as best practices for social workers in a variety of fields. Students may further customize their study by selecting options such as Military Social Work or Social Work in Business, which requires the completion of two additional courses.
