SUSAN BUEKER joined the Virtual Academic Center as part of the adjunct faculty in 2011. She brings more than two decades of experience as a social worker in the roles of direct practitioner, educator, clinical case manager and volunteer mentor.

After completing a two-year training program at Southwestern Gestalt Center in 1996, she has been serving children, adolescents and adults in community agencies, schools and inpatient behavioral health settings. In 2008 she was awarded a fellowship in palliative care social work with Hospice of the Valley. She was also a volunteer field instructor for Arizona State University and an adjunct faculty member for Anthem College Online, where she taught courses in critical thinking, psychology and technical writing for health care.

Bueker currently maintains a private practice serving adults, couples and families. Her areas of interest include trauma, addictions, mental health and the ever-expanding field of neurobiology. In addition to her clinical practice, she is a clinical information review analyst for Banner Health Systems. For more than 10 years, she has been a volunteer mentor for the Mental Health Association’s Homeless Children’s Mentoring Program.
